Mika Hovilainen as interim CEO of Aker Arctic

Mika Hovilainen has been appointed as interim CEO of Aker Arctic.

After 19 years with the company, Reko-Antti Suojanen, CEO of Aker Arctic since December 2013, has decided to explore new opportunities outside of Aker Arctic.

In light of this development, Mr Hovilainen has been appointed as the interim Managing Director and CEO of Aker Arctic, effective February 1, 2024.

“I will pass the helm to Mika Hovilainen with good confidence. Mika has been working for a long time at Aker Arctic and has been leading our Ship Design activities, so it provides a smooth transition. Secondly, I would like to thank all our customers and great personnel for the time we spent together,” says Mr Reko-Antti Suojanen.

Mika has been a part of Aker Arctic since the beginning of 2006. From initially working as a project engineer, Mika has continually expanded his contributions to ship design working as a chief designer, project manager of ship design projects, and most recently as the of Head of Ship Design for the past 4 years. He has been deeply involved in most of the major design projects at Aker Arctic and has been part of the company’s Management Team.

As Interim CEO, Mika Hovilainen will report to the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors has commenced a global search for a permanent Chief Executive Officer.
