IMO Secretary-General visited Aker Arctic

On Wednesday 28.2.2024, Secretary-General of International Maritime Organisation Arsenio Antonio Domínguez Velasco visited Aker Arctic together with the representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Finland.

The visit is particularly noteworthy as it aligns with one of the key themes of the Secretary’s trip to Finland: the incorporation of ice-strengthened vessels into the IMO’s ongoing negotiations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships. This topic is of paramount importance, given the increasing focus on climate change and the maritime industry’s role in mitigating its effects.

By focusing on innovative designs and technologies for ice-strengthened vessels, Aker Arctic’s work offers potential solutions to these challenges.
